The Importance of Program Visits

I recently spent time in California where I had the opportunity to visit programs for adolescents and young adults. I was deeply impressed with the depth of understanding each program possesses about the individuals in their care and how they can best be supported. I met not only with the administrators, but the therapists as well and was truly inspired by the passion these professionals bring to their work. From a distance, I was even able to observe some of the clients as they made their way to various activities or therapies.

While I carefully listened to the professionals and learned about the processes by which they support clients with mental health challenges and/or substance use, I realized that the setting where this all takes place is equally as important to the success of the journey. An environment that is calming and peaceful adds so much to the process of becoming healthy. This key combination is what helps create a beneficial program.
