I had the opportunity to visit colleges in Arizona last week.
Northern Arizona University is located in Flagstaff where they get snow in the winter and beautiful sun in the Spring and Summer months. With around 18,000 students, there is an opportunity for learning/living communities available to students sharing similar majors. There are seven separate colleges that students can select from for their majors. Hotel and Restaurant Management is a strong major, as is Criminology and Anthropology. There is a lot of competition for the Nursing and Dental Hygiene majors. Most classes are taught by professors who are required to have office hours for students. For those who come into NAU with a learning difference, check in with Disability Services to receive accommodations.
Want to look into a major in Aeronautical Engineering (and global Security, Space Physics)? Then Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is for you. This is a college that is very “hands-on” and professors encourage collaboration and teamwork. A degree from this college can also provide training in developing ideas for Surveillance, Network Security and School Security. There are crime labs on campus and a student is able to learn Forensic Accounting and Aeronautical Business. This is a “smaller” college of around 2,200 students but the amount of energy on the campus creates alot of enthusiasm among all the students.
